Description
The Location API enables you to locate yourself (the registered mobile device MSISDN). When locating the device for the first time the located mobile device owner is asked if he/she wants to be located. The user can allow locating by sending an SMS. The locating returns the mobile device's Cell ID.
The Cell ID in turn be used by the Location API Cell ID - resource to locate the device on a cell-based accuracy. The Cell ID resource currently works only in Sonera's Finland network.
Due to legal restrictions you can locate only your Innovation World Challenge registered MSISDN during the competition.
Offered functionalities:
- Get location by CellID, LAC, MNC, MCC
- Convert location to a co-ordinate
- Describe location
Restrictions
- It is only possible to locate your own registered MSISDN.
- Works only with Sonera SIMs at the moment.
- serviceKey and userKey must match the same developer
SMS check
When you use the API for the first time, you will receive an SMS confirmation from 358400312819 asking if it is ok to locate you. If you respond with POSITIONING ALLOW it will be possible to locate your mobile device using the same userKey/serviceKey. SMS message POSITIONING DENY will disable positioning support.
